THE ONYX PROCESS

5 - Step Method

STEP 1

CUSTOMER INTAKE

Core Purpose: Capture requirements, qualify the project, and define the problem with precision.

What happens:

·       Client submits inquiry or is referred

·       ONYX gathers site data, constraints, and objectives

·       Scope, risk, and feasibility are assessed

·       A Structured Intake sheet is completed

Why it Matters: A smooth start with no surprises later.

STEP 2

ENGINEERING

Core Purpose: Develop engineered solutions that meet code, performance, and constructability requirements.

What happens:

·       Mechanical, Structural, and TI design work begins

·       Calculations, modeling, and layout development

·       Coordination with architects, General Contractors, and other disciplines

·       Drafting of drawing sets and technical documentation

Why it Matters: Practical, code-compliant designs that are buildable and efficient.

STEP 3

QA/QC

Core Purpose: Ensure accuracy, compliance, and professional integrity before anything leaves the building.

What happens:

·       Peer review against ONYX standards

·       Code compliance verification

·       Cross-checking calculations, dimensions, and notes

·       Structural PE review (internal or partner) if work deemed necessary

Why it matters: A clean, accurate set of drawings that reduces rework and protects your schedule.

STEP 4

DELIVERY

Core purpose: Provide the client with a clean, complete, and build-ready package.

What happens:

·       Supporting documents packaged (Cals, schedules, specs)

·      Draft files delivered through ONYX portal or Email

·       GC/Owner walkthrough of the deliverables

·       Customer acceptance agreement

Why it matters: Everything you need to move forward with confidence.

·       Capture client feedback

·       Issue final invoice

·       Optional follow-up to ensure everything is working smoothly
